The Charlie Frye Invitational Fantasy Football Keeper League Collective Bargaining Agreement
1. League and Collective Bargaining Agreement Background
The league will consist of an even number of owners, with myself, Patrick, acting as the commissioner. The collective bargaining must have the approval of the majority of the league (6 out of 10) to be put into affect. Simply posting “I Agree” in the Yahoo message boards is sufficient. A new approval must take place every season. If you do not approve of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, delete yourself from the league. In any labor union or league, the collective bargaining agreement is law, and this document will oversee our league and be its primary rules.
2. Regarding Rosters, Scoring and Roster Changes
Rosters will have 17 players, two Quarterbacks, three Wide Receivers, two Running Backs, one Tight End, one Wide Receiver/Running Back flex, one Kicker, one Team Defense and six Bench players. Free Agent Rules, Waiver Rules and Can’t Cut rules are subject to Yahoo rules. Scoring will be the Yahoo default settings, with Negative points but no Fractional points. No maximum moves, maximum trades or maximum acquisitions per week.
3. Regarding Season and Playoff Length
The regular season will start in Week 1 and end in Week 13. The playoffs will last from Week 14-16, with 6 teams making the cut. The other 4 teams will not be placed in a Consolation bracket. The league will be a Head to Head style league.
4. Inagural Draft
The inaugural draft will be a standard online Yahoo “serpentine” (reversal) draft, at the time chosen by the commissioner with a randomized draft order. The draft will last 17 rounds to fill out rosters.
5. Regarding Keeping Players from Season to Season
At the end of each season, you must chose 7 players from your roster of 17 to keep towards next season, and 10 to drop. The names of players to keep must be submitted to the commissioner at the chosen deadline. These 7 players must be kept towards future seasons, as well. You must keep 7 players.
6. Regarding Future Drafts
Every owner has 10 picks, from 1st-10th rounds, in next years Draft. The players in this draft will be a composition of incoming NFL rookies and NFL veterans that have been dropped by owners. These drafts will NOT be serpentine drafts, but instead will be the same format of a standard NFL draft (1st pick 1st round, 1st pick 2nd round, etc.) This draft will be used to fill out rosters from season to season. The worst team from the year before will be given the number one pick, the 2nd worst will be given the number 2 pick, and so on.
7. Regarding Expansion Teams
When deemed appropriate by the commisioner, expansion teams may be added to the league. The league still must retain an even number of owners after the expansion teams are inserted.
7.A) Expansion Drafts
Each incoming expansion team will have five picks, on and off in serpentine style BEFORE the rest of the existing owners pick in the redraft. Each expansion owner will also get consolation picks at the end of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds. The expansion draft teams will also be alloted normal picks at the end of each round of the redraft except the 1st. This is to allow expansion teams the first choice of a nice crop of players from year to year, so that they can go into rebuilding mode – but have quality teams that could potentially vie for a playoff spot. Its tough luck if you are the 1st team picking after an expansion draft. These drafts will probably be set up offline or via AIM.
8. Regarding Trades
Normal Yahoo trade rules apply for player for player trades. All trades will be reviewed by the commissioner, and trades will be approved and unapproved, no exceptions.
8.A) Regarding Trading Draft Picks
Draft picks for future drafts may be traded at any time for each other, even during an actual draft. A draft pick cannot be traded for a player straight up, since there is no way to achieve this in Yahoo. A player + draft pick may be traded for another player + draft pick. If you trade a draft pick for a draft pick, you must post the transaction to the Yahoo message board. Draft picks may only be traded for drafts up to 2 seasons ahead, currently any 2009 and 2010 draft picks can be traded. Expansion draft picks may be traded for players. To keep track of who has what draft picks in upcoming draft, this website will be updated with a full list. If you trade away draft picks and are left with less than 7, you must use waivers/free agents after the draft to fill out your roster. If you end up with more than 7, and therefore would carry a roster of 18+, you must forfeit your last draft pick. Hint: An upcoming draft pick may mean an incoming rookie such as a Darren McFadden or a solid veteran like Cadillac Williams. Be careful not to overvalue or undervalue your picks when trading. You also must be wary of possible upcoming expansion drafts.
9. Regarding Inactive Owners
If an owner is deemed too inactive by the commissioner after every given season, that owner may be replaced by a different GM. An inactive owner must finish any current season before being replaced.
10. Regarding Punishment
Punishment may be deemed necessary at any time by the commissioner. Punishment include, but are not limited to: Suspension (lock), forfeiture of future draft picks, locks of simple privileges such as trash talking, trading and name-changing and banishment.
10.A) Failure to follow the Collective Bargaining Agreement
Any failure by owners to follow rules in the Collective Bargaining Agreement will be reviewed by the commissioner and dealt with accordingly.
11. Regarding Cheating
It won’t happen. Punishments will be handed out if integrity is ever falsely questioned.
12. Yahoo Etiquette Rules
These rules can be found on the Yahoo Fantasy Website. They will loosely enforced. Swearing is permitted.
13. Editing the Collective Bargaining Agreement Mid-Season
Any proposed changes made to the Collective Bargaining Agreement mid-season must be approved by the commissioner, as well as 8/10ths of the league.
14. Editing the Collective Bargaining Agreement in the Offseason
Any proposed changes will be reviewed by the commissioner and will be subject for approval by the league at the normal Collective Bargaining Agreement editing period.
15. Deletion of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
Some form of a Collective Bargaining Agreement must always exist, unless it’s disapproved by all members of the league as well as the Commissioner.
