I’m making a mock draft of the first two rounds based on the current rumor mill and previous GM tenancies.
News: After Mock 1.0, An AFC GM that wishes to remain anonymous has this to say about the Cardinals GM. “Clinton Portis is not a 1st round pick, let alone 6th overall.” He went onto say that “Romo and Portis would be the worst core in the league by far.”
1st Round
1. Detroit Lions – Adrian Peterson (23)
2. Cleveland Browns – Steven Jackson (24)
3. Miami Dolphins – Ladanian Tomlinson (29)
4. Buffalo Bills – Joseph Addai (25)
5. Seattle Seahawks – Frank Gore (25)

I need this man
6. Arizona Cardinals – Clinton Portis (26)
7. New York Giants – Brian Westbrook (28 )
8. Washington Redskins – Randy Moss (31) Marshawn Lynch (22)
Rumor has it that the Redskins favor Lynch to draft over Moss at 8th overall. Lynch, at 22, is heading into his 2nd season after posting up huge rookie numbers. Look for the Skins to draft Lynch, a stud, workhorse RB to build around for the future.
9. Houston Texans – Tom Brady (30)
10. Jacksonville Jaguars – Marion Barber (25)
Round 2
11. Jacksonville Jaguars – Marshawn Lynch (22) Randy Moss (31)
Moss is coming off an amazing 2007 season, where he was the 3rd best overall player. Still, a 31 year old wide receiver isn’t really the type of guy you build a team around for the future. If he can give you decent numbers for 2-3 more seasons though, he is certainly worth the risk when you are drafting 11th.
12. Houston Texans – Larry Johnson (28 )
13. Washington Redskins – Willis McGahee (26) Ryan Grant (25)
Ryan Grant posted up huge numbers with the Packers on limited rushes last season, and at 25, he looks to become the new Packers full time running back. Seen as a sleeper in most leagues, Grant could potentially drop 250+ fantasy points on the league for 4-5 years to come. The Skins like Grant here to tag with Lynch as a two headed Running back attack for many years to come.
14. New York Giants – Reggie Wayne (29) Willis McGahee (26)
McGahee is another young, premier workhorse back that is entering his prime. McGahee has been in the league for 4 seasons, and has only sustained one major injury. The rest of his seasons have been solid, but unspectacular. Look for New York to tandem Westbrook and McGahee as two running backs that will help them in the immediate future.
15. Arizona Cardinals – Tony Romo (28 )
16. Seattle Seahawks – Braylon Edwards (25)
17. Buffalo Bills – Andre Johnson (26) Reggie Wayne (29)
A case could be made for Andre Johnson here, but Wayne dropped 1500 yards and 10 TDs on the league last season, and at 29, he is still in his prime. If the Bills take Wayne, look for them to potentially seek trading Wayne for a young piece to compliment Addai. Wayne probably has 2-3 more great seasons in him before he slows down.
18. Miami Dolphins – Ryan Grant (25) Peyton Manning (32)
Rumor has it the Dolphins love boys… err.. Manning at this pick, and its hard to disagree with them. With a tandem of Peyton Manning and LT, the Dolphins would have the best QB-RB combination in the league to make a short term run at the title. Manning, at 32, has posted up amazing numbers every season he has been in the league (including a Super Bowl victory), and many think he could give the Dolphins those numbers well into his 30’s.
19. Cleveland Browns – Ronnie Brown (26) Andre Johnson (26)
The Browns would be absolutley ecstatic if Johnson fell to them at 19. Johnson is the widely seen as the second best of the 24-26 year old Wideouts (behind Braylon Edwards), and he also posted decent numbers in the Texans system, despite being injured for most of the season. If the Browns could package Johnson and Jackson, they would have a solid core to build upon for the future.
20. Detroit Lions – Larry Fitzgerald (24)
I doubt romo and portis would be the worst qb-hb tandem in the league
maybe not jake, but to take those two with a 1st and 2nd round pick? you could get portis with an early 2nd and romo in the 3rd.
the brady-LJ combo and the LT-Manning tandems i have here would poop on romo-portis.. agreed?
I’m lookin to take ronnie brown if left or the best rb available. Who is takin’ Peyton? whoever does i’m looking for a trade.
If I don’t get peyton in the 2nd i’ll take a good wideout. Canon your foolish for all that bshate about my fantasy strategies.
