Week 4 Recap/Power Rankings

My Week 4 Picks:

Seattle Seahawks over Miami Dolphins
Arizona Cardinals over Buffalo Bills
Washington Redskins over Cleveland Browns
Jacksonville Jaguars over Houston Texans
Detroit Lions over New York Giants

15 for 20 (75%) on the season

Winner of the Matchup of the Week: Seattle Seahawks
Luckiest Win: Jacksonville Jaguars over Houston Texans
Unluckiest Loss: Miami Dolphins to Seattle Seahawks
Biggest Week 4 Disappointment: New York Giants
Biggest Week 4 Surprise: Detroit Lions

  • The first thing I should say, is that the activity level needs to increase. The activity level is amazing with most of our members right now, but there are definitely a few that will be fired next year unless they pick it up. You people know who you are.
  • The Buffalo Bills had an unfortunate bye week situation last week, with 7 players on their bye, the Bills were forced to start Reggie Wayne, who was inactive Week 4.
  • Brett Favre was the Week 4 High Scorer, scoring 34 points while he threw for 6 TDs and 1 INT. The Seahawks, who own Favre, probably wouldn’t have beaten the Dolphins if it were not for Favre’s heroics.
  • Steven Jackson and Larry Johnson, were were previously conceived as possible busts, both popped off on Sunday. Johnson with 29 points, and Jackson with 24.
  • Rashard Mendenhall suffered a broken shoulder last night, and will miss the rest of the season. Good thing none of you guys took up my offers of Rashard for a pick. In his absence, I picked up Bobby Engram to hold down WR/RB for the Seahawks.
  • Boldin may be out for awhile. The Lynch/Boldin trade has been disastrous for the Skins.

Power Rankings:

These are the Week 4 Power Rankings. These, of course, are just my opinion.

1. Arizona Cardinals (3-1, 529 Points) [--]
Jacksonville remains number one in the standings, but the Cards have 49 more points than the Jags. Arizona hasn’t scored less than 140 points since Week 1.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-0, 480 Points) [--]
The Jags have the best record in the league, and are getting stellar performances out of Philip Rivers, Marion Barber and Donovan McNabb. Will the Jags go perfect in 08?

3. Seattle Seahawks (3-1, 476 Points) [--]
The Top 3 in Week 3 remain the Top 3 in Week 4, as the Seahawks make their 4th straight appearance at #3. The Hawks hope the additions of Anthony Fasano and Bobby Engram will get them a Week 5 win over Jacksonville.

4. New York Giants (2-2, 433 Points) [--]
Despite losing an upset match to the Lions, the Giants are still the #4 team. Despite the fact that NYG is on a two game losing streak, the Giants have been wildly inconsistent in 2008, going from 157 points to 82 points in two weeks.

5. Miami Dolphins (1-3, 466 Points) [--]
Despite being 1-3, the Dolphins are just one win away from holding the 4th place spot in the league. With LaDanian Tomlinson, Michael Turner and Terrell Owens, its hard for me to see this team doing anything other than winning games for the rest of the year.

6. Detroit Lions (2-2, 408 Points) [+1]
The Lions slowly continue to climb the power rankings, delivering an upset victory over the New York Giants last week. The Lions, who are currently riding a two game win streak, could be a legit playoff contender with Adrian Peterson on board.

7. Houston Texans (2-2, 394 Points) [-1]
If the playoffs began today, Houston would be in it. The Texans have still been below league average this year, and will look to try and solidify a playoff spot with a win over the Detroit Lions this week.

8. Washington Redskins (1-3, 406 Points) [+1]
The Redskins put out an amazing 141 points Week 4, 40 more points than they had in any other week. Is this a sign of better things to come in Washington? The Skins will be without high scorer Anquan Boldin next week, as he will rest with a head injury.

9. Buffalo Bills (2-2, 364 Points) [-1]
The Bills, who have only scored at least 101 points once this season, finally lost to the Arizona Cardinals. The Bills are very lucky to be 2-2 at this point, as the Dolphins have scored 102 more points than the Bills but are only 1-3. The Bills are lead by Jason Campbell, and a very nice surprise RB in Steve Slaton.

10. Cleveland Browns (0-4, 309 Points) [--]
This is the 4th week in a row that the Browns have held the 10th spot in the Power Rankings. Its probably time for them to tank the season, trade their guys away for young talent and picks, and put the #1 overall pick next year to good use.
