My Picks:

Seattle Seahawks over Washington Redskins
Buffalo Bills over Houston Texans
New York Giants over Cleveland Browns
Arizona Cardinals over Detroit Lions
Miami Dolphins over Jacksonville Jaguars

Matchup of the WeeK: Buffalo Bills vs. Houston Texans

3 of 5 on the week, 31 of 45 (69%) on the season.

Week 9 Power Rankings:

It’s getting late, so these will be fairly brief.

1. Arizona Cardinals (7-2, 1080 Points) [--]
The Cardinals place first in this week’s power rankings for the third straight week after a 55 point winning performance against the Lions.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars (7-2, 1065 Points) [--]
The Jags place 2nd again, with a win over the Dolphins to keep pace with the Cardinals. The Jags are only one Cardinals slip-up from the #1 spot in the rankings.

3. Seattle Seahawks (6-3, 960 Points) [--]
The Hawks come in third for the 9th straight week, with a 2 point win over the Redskins. The Seahawks are most likely the third and final guaranteed playoff team at this point.

4. New York Giants (4-5, 975 Points) [+1]
The Giants actually have the third most points in the league, but unfortunately are in 6th place. I feel like a win over the Cards would solidify a playoff spot for the Giants with only four more weeks to go.

5. Buffalo Bills (5-4, 916 Points) [-1]
The Bills suffered a tough loss the Houston Texans this week, but still remain 4th in the standings. The Bills are most likely a playoff squad at this rate.

6. Houston Texans (5-4, 856 Points) [-1]
One loss and a New York win makes Houston the 6 seed, but the Texans need 3 wins to clinch playoffs. They could potentially get those wins with the Dolphins and Browns on the schedule.

7. Washington Redskins (3-6, 910 Points) [--]
As of now, the Skins are on the outside looking in at a playoff birth. With only two weeks until the deadline, will they blow it up and rebuild?

8. Miami Dolphins (2-7, 919 Points) [+2]
The Phins have traded for Marshawn Lynch, but much of their team is built for now still. The Dolphins are 4 losses away from guaranteeing the #1 lottery spot.

9. Detroit Lions (3-6, 837 Points) [--]
Nothing has gone well for Detroit since trading for Reggie Bush, and the Lions continue to be #9 in my rankings

10. Cleveland Browns (3-6, 773 Points) [-2]
People thought he was on the rise, then he dropped 23 points. Enough said.

1. Arizona Cardinals (6-2, 1025 Points) [--] The Arizona Cardinals won the colossal match-up with the team the Jacksonville Jaguars becoming the # 1 team in the league. The Cards are demolishing there opponents by going on a 3- Game winning streak and in those games winning by an avg. margin of 36 points. They look like a safe bet to go # 1 throughout the rest of the season having the best Fantasy QB and RB in Drew Brees and Clinton Portis.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars (6-2, 961 Points) [--] The Jacksonville Jags came up on the losing side of the match-up of the week against Arizona, but remain # 2 in the rankings. They have a great record and have the 2nd most points in the league but are on a 2 game losing streak.

3. Seattle Seahawks (5-3, 868 Points) [--] I also still have the Seahawks at # 3 in the rankings picking up the win versus the Houston Texans. They have the 3rd most points in the league, but are they vulnerable next week have Frank Gore on a bye and Darren McFadden injured?

4. Buffalo Bills (5-3, 830 Points) [+1] The Bills would be 3rd on my rankings but are in 4th because they trail the Seahawks in points. They picked up a win in a good game against there rival Giants. The trade for Willie Parker and Ronnie Brown could put them over the top helping there only weakness at the RB spot already having solid WR’s and QB’s

5. New York Giants (3-5, 856 Points) [-1] The Giants lose a key game that could potentially have clinched the playoff spot against the Buffalo Bills. The Giants were in a good position to win this week being down 14pts going into Monday Night having Peyton Manning, Lendale White, and Tennessee Def but could not muster enough points to pick up the win.

6. Houston Texans (4-4, 737 Points) [+2] The Houston Texans lost big against the Seahawks this week and only being able to score 69 points. To there sake they did have there # 1 RB and WR on byes and #1 and #2 QBs being injured or on byes. Despite having a 4-4 record the Houston Texans have the least points scored this year by any team.

– Playoff Line –

7. Washington Redskins (3-5, 820 Points) [+3] The Redskins have moved up 3 spots in the ranking matching there real ranking in the league at 7th. The redskins just do a good job of picking up free agents each week to fill in a spot on there roster and have a decent chance of making the playoffs.

8. Cleveland Browns (3-5, 750 Points) [+1] The Cleveland Browns picked up an impressive win against the Detroit Lions scoring 126 points. They are currently riding a 3 game winning streak and could seriously make a playoff run. But it will take some heart because right now the Browns are without there # 1 and # 2 QBs in Tony Romo and Carson Palmer and could be very well out for the season.

9. Detroit Lions (3-5, 784 Points) [-1] Despite picking up a win against the Miami Dolphins the Lions move down in my rankings. The Lions are very week ate QB and RB with very little depth having a benched J.T. O’sullivan starting and starting RBs consisting of an injured Sammy Morris and an aging Edgerrin James who is losing carries fast courtesy of Tim Hightower. The Detroit Lions just don’t have enough Man power to do any thing this year.

10. Miami Dolphins (2-6, 827 Points) [-3] The Dolphins have lost once again, this time to the ailing Detroit Lions. The Dolphins seem to be tanking the season and are thinking about the future with the trade last week of Tomlinson and Owens and this week with the trades of Willie Parker and Ronnie Brown. The Dolphins can now look forward to the high pick next year.

My Picks:

Seattle Seahawks over New York Giants
Buffalo Bills over Detroit Lions
Cleveland Browns over Jacksonville Jaguars
Houston Texans over Washington Redskins
Arizona Cardinals over Miami Dolphins

24 for 35 (69%) on the season

Winner of the Matchup of the Week: Cleveland Browns!!!!
Luckiest Win: Houston Texans over Washington Redskins
Unluckiest Loss: Jacksonville Jaguars to Cleveland Browns
Biggest Week 7 Disappointment: Jacksonville Jaguars
Biggest Week 7 Surprise: Cleveland Browns

Like I had predicted, the Browns, with newfound activity, found a way to upset the Jaguars. The onslaught was lead by an amazing day by Steven Jackson.

WR Roy Williams was traded to the Dallas Cowboys last week. How did he respond? With 0 catches for 0 yards.

In the Charlie Frye Invitational, Adrian Peterson was traded in a very controversial deal from Detroit to Seattle. Seattle then placed Peterson right back on the trading block, but did not deal him.

LT and Terrell Owens for TJ Houshmanzadeh, Larry Johnson and Marshawn Lynch. The winner? I have to slightly give it to the Dolphins. They get younger (a 22 year old RB in Lynch) and don’t give up way too much at WR, plus LJ who is no slouch. The Cards get older, and go fully win-now, which isn’t the worst way to be.

Week 7 Power Rankings:

These are the Week 7 Power Rankings. These, of course, are just my opinion.

1. Arizona Cardinals (5-2, 889 Points) [+1]
The Cardinals, who are coming off a convincing win over Miami, capitalize on Jacksonville’s loss in this weeks rankings. The Cardinals attack is lead by #1 overall fantasy player Clinton Portis. However, Arizona remains #2 in the standings.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars (6-1, 855 Points) [-1]
The Jaguars took a hard loss to Cleveland this weekend, despite putting up 125 points. The Jaguars have still up more than 120 points in 6 out of 7 weeks, so they will be tough to stop.

3. Seattle Seahawks (4-3, 779 Points) [--]
The Seahawks remain untouched at #3 in the standings as well as the Power Rankings for the 7th straight week. The Hawks, however, have been extremely inconsistent the past three weeks. The trade to pick up #1 Keeper player Adrian Peterson will help.

4. New York Giants (3-4, 748 Points) [+2]
The Giants move up two spots after a huge win against the Seahawks. New York, who has the 4th most points in the league, are 6th in the standings. They would welcome a huge win over 4th place Buffalo this weekend.

5. Buffalo Bills (4-3, 709 Points) [+2]
The Bills are actually 4th in the standings, but trail many teams pointwise. They would also love to get a huge win over in-state rival New York. Are the Bills for real? Or have they capitalized on a ridiculous amount of luck?

6. Houston Texans (4-3, 668 Points) [+2]
The Texans picked up another win this weekend, despite having the 9th most points in the league. Still, who is going to catch up with them? Miami and Cleveland are two games back. Detroit is a game back, but also missing their new franchise back Reggie Bush.

– Playoff Line –

7. Miami Dolphins (2-5, 732 Points) [-2]
The Phins, who recently traded franchise player Ladanian Tomlinson and franchise receiver Terrell Owens, went younger and acquired stud 22 year old Marshawn Lynch, as well as Larry Johnson and TJ Houshmanzadeh. This makes Miami considerably deep at Running Back, with 5 starters who will vie for playing time (LJ, Lynch, Michael Turner, Ronnie Brown and Willie Parker).

8. Detroit Lions (3-4, 708 Points) [-4]
Early return on the Peterson trade? Not good. The Lions got absolutely smashed by the Bills Week 7, and now they are without Adrian Peterson and Reggie Bush for Week 8. It’s going to be especially tough for the Lions to sneak into the playoffs now.

9. Cleveland Browns (2-5, 636 Points) [+2]
Cleveland is still #10 in the standings, but with their newfound activity, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a playoff run. After all, they have Tony Romo, Andre Johnson and Steven Jackson.

10. Washington Redskins (2-5, 694 Points) [-1]
The Skins just aren’t a good football team. They are also very unlucky, and despite having more points than a few teams they are 9th in the standings.

My Picks:
Seattle Seahawks over Detroit Lions
Jacksonville Jaguars over Buffalo Bills
Miami Dolphins over Cleveland Browns
Arizona Cardinals over Washington Redskins
New York Giants over Houston Texans

20 for 30 (67%) on the season

Winner of the Matchup of the Week: Seattle Seahawks
Luckiest Win: Miami Dolphins over Cleveland Browns
Unluckiest Loss: Detroit Lions to Seattle Seahawks
Biggest Week 6 Disappointment: New York Giants
Biggest Week 6 Surprise: Houston Texans

Week 6 Power Rankings:

These are the Week 6 Power Rankings. These, of course, are just my opinion.

1. Jacksonville Jaguars (6-0, 730 Points) [--]
The Jaguars continue to be undefeated after an impressive Week 6 victory over the Bills. The Jags, who have yet to score less than 108 points, continue to be the most consistent team in the league. The Jaguars have a 2 game lead on 1st place heading into Week 7.

2. Arizona Cardinals (4-2, 779 Points) [--]
The Cards actually have the most points in the league, but have lost a couple of games due to some major consistency issues. Looking towards the playoffs, it could be this inconsistency that plagues them with only 6 Weeks remaining until the 1st round. The Cards continue to get ridiculous production out of Drew Brees and Reggie Bush.

3. Seattle Seahawks (4-2, 692 Points) [--]
The top 3 remains unchanged from Week 5, with the Seahawks holding onto the 3rd place for the 6th straight week. The Hawks, who only dropped a meek 76 points in Week 5, scored 140 points in an impressive victory over the Lions.

4. Detroit Lions (3-3, 621 Points) [--]
The Lions scored a solid 104 points in Week 6, leading to another week at #4 on the Power Rankings. Detroit has been rolling since the Steve Smith trade, averaging 112 PPG over that span of time. Detroit could definitely be a wild horse in this years playoffs.

5. Miami Dolphins (2-4, 658 Points) [+1]
What a weird season this has been for Miami. After losing three consecutive games while scoring 100+ ppg, the Dolphins finally won a game… with 87 points. Still, this is a team that is built to win now, and if the Dolphins somehow don’t make the playoffs this year, they will be in a horrible situation for next year.

6. New York Giants (2-4, 621 Points) [-1]
The Giants lost a hearbreaker to the Texans last week, and now hold the #6 spot in the rankings simply because of how many points they have. The Giants hold the #8 spot in the league right now, but that could increase with a couple of wins.

7. Buffalo Bills (3-3, 579 Points)
The Bills are in 5th place in the standings despite being being only one of three teams with less than 600 points. The Bills would love to get a win over Detroit to get them a 4-3 record this weekend.

8. Houston Texans (3-3, 577 Points)
The Texans only have two points less than the Bills, and both would make the playoffs if it started tomorrow. Still, they have both gotten lucky with their wins, which begs the question, are the Texans truly contenders?

9. Washington Redskins (2-4, 609 Points)
The Skins scored a decent 105 points in a loss to the Cards this week, bringing their record to 2-4. The Skins are definitely on the outside looking in as far as the playoffs are concerned… Is it time for them to tank the season and try and pick up a high pick?

10. Cleveland Browns (1-5, 494 Points) [--]
The Browns reverted back to their losing ways this Week, dropping an anemic 68 points to the Miami Dolphins. The Browns are on the fast track to earning the 1st overall selection in the upcoming draft.

Seattle Seahawks over Jacksonville Jaguars
Arizona Cardinals over Cleveland Browns
Miami Dolphins over Buffalo Bills
Detroit Lions over Houston Texans
New York Giants over Washington Redskins

16 for 25 (64%) on the Season

Winner of the Matchup of the Week: Jacksonville Jaguars
Luckiest Win: Washington Redskins over New York Giants
Unluckiest Loss: Tie- Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins
Biggest Week 5 Disappointment: Arizona Cardinals
Biggest Week 5 Surprise: Cleveland Browns

I had an awful week of picking, and the only winner I called correctly is the Detroit Lions.

The awful luck continues for the Miami Dolphins, who despite holding the 3rd most points, sit in 9th place.

Brian Westbrook broke two ribs, but may or not be out. In his place, Correll Buckhalter will get carries (now owned by the Seattle Seahawks)

Houston Texans made a move to acquire Rashard Mendenhall this weekend, despite the fact that Mendenhall is on IR. Obviously, the Texans are hoping that Mendenhall may be a nice keeper option for next season.

Power Rankings:

These are the Week 5 Power Rankings. These, of course, are just my opinion.

1. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-0, 601 Points) [+1]
The Jags, who only have the 2nd most points, move to #1 in the rankings simply because they have a two game lead on the rest of the competition. The Jaguars have gotten tremendous production out of seemingly everybody on their roster.

2. Arizona Cardinals (3-2, 634 Points) [-1]
The Cardinals have a very firm hold on the #2 spot in the league, but are now 2 games back on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite losing a shocker to the last place Browns, the Cards still put up a respectable 105 points in Week 5.

3. Seattle Seahawks (3-2, 552 Points) [--]
For the 5th straight week, the Seahawks come in at #3 despite posting up an anemic 76 points Week 5. Still, that number does not represent reality, as the Seahawks GM accidentally started Matt Schaub who was inactive. The Hawks have gotten amazing performances out of running back tandem Frank Gore and Reggie Bush.

4. Detroit Lions (3-2, 515 Points) [+2]
Three straight wins since the Steve Smith trade, and the Lions are on a roll. With a three game win streak, the Lions will attempt to beat Seattle in Week 6 to see if they are really for real. The Lions have gotten a good performance out of Adrian Peterson thus far, but not the type of numbers they were expecting.

5. New York Giants (2-3, 530 Points) [-1]
The Giants lost a heartbreaker to rival Redskins this weekend, losing only by a single point. For a team that hasn’t scored 100 points since Week 2, It wouldn’t surprise me if the Giants continue to lose unless some changes are made. Will bringing in McGahee be what puts them over the top?

6. Miami Dolphins (1-4, 571 Points) [-1]
I could just have easily ranked the Bills at #6, but I cannot the Dolphins here, simply because they have the 3rd most points in the league (more than the Giants, Lions or Seahawks). Week 6 is the make or break week for the Dolphins at this point, they absolutely need a win over the Browns.

7. Buffalo Bills (3-2, 488 Points) [+2]
Admittedly, I have been a bit tough on the Bills in these rankings, despite the fact that they keep winning games. Buffalo dropped 124 in an upset victory over Miami, which puts them up two spots in my rankings.

8. Washington Redskins (2-3, 504 Points) [--]
The Redskins are now riding a two game winning streak with a 1 point win over the favored Giants. The Skins will hope to prove that they are for real this weekend when they face off against the Arizona Cardinals, who many believe are the best team in the league.

9. Houston Texans (2-3, 483 Points) [-2]
The Texans continue to drop after their 2nd straight below average performance. Obviously, losing Brady has been a tremendous hit to this team, who have now turned to a Brian Griese/Matt Cassel combo at 2QB for the long stretch. It doesn’t help that Ryan Grant, Vernon Davis and Chad Ocho Cinco have been huge busts so far as well.

10. Cleveland Browns (1-4, 426 Points) [--]
This is the fifth straight week for the Browns, who actually beat the Arizona Cardinals last week in a stunning upset victory. Still, it looks as if the Browns are tanking the season by starting inactive players. Will the Browns get active and turn it around?

My Week 4 Picks:

Seattle Seahawks over Miami Dolphins
Arizona Cardinals over Buffalo Bills
Washington Redskins over Cleveland Browns
Jacksonville Jaguars over Houston Texans
Detroit Lions over New York Giants

15 for 20 (75%) on the season

Winner of the Matchup of the Week: Seattle Seahawks
Luckiest Win: Jacksonville Jaguars over Houston Texans
Unluckiest Loss: Miami Dolphins to Seattle Seahawks
Biggest Week 4 Disappointment: New York Giants
Biggest Week 4 Surprise: Detroit Lions

The first thing I should say, is that the activity level needs to increase. The activity level is amazing with most of our members right now, but there are definitely a few that will be fired next year unless they pick it up. You people know who you are.

The Buffalo Bills had an unfortunate bye week situation last week, with 7 players on their bye, the Bills were forced to start Reggie Wayne, who was inactive Week 4.

Brett Favre was the Week 4 High Scorer, scoring 34 points while he threw for 6 TDs and 1 INT. The Seahawks, who own Favre, probably wouldn’t have beaten the Dolphins if it were not for Favre’s heroics.

Steven Jackson and Larry Johnson, were were previously conceived as possible busts, both popped off on Sunday. Johnson with 29 points, and Jackson with 24.

Rashard Mendenhall suffered a broken shoulder last night, and will miss the rest of the season. Good thing none of you guys took up my offers of Rashard for a pick. In his absence, I picked up Bobby Engram to hold down WR/RB for the Seahawks.

Boldin may be out for awhile. The Lynch/Boldin trade has been disastrous for the Skins.

Power Rankings:

These are the Week 4 Power Rankings. These, of course, are just my opinion.

1. Arizona Cardinals (3-1, 529 Points) [--]
Jacksonville remains number one in the standings, but the Cards have 49 more points than the Jags. Arizona hasn’t scored less than 140 points since Week 1.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-0, 480 Points) [--]
The Jags have the best record in the league, and are getting stellar performances out of Philip Rivers, Marion Barber and Donovan McNabb. Will the Jags go perfect in 08?

3. Seattle Seahawks (3-1, 476 Points) [--]
The Top 3 in Week 3 remain the Top 3 in Week 4, as the Seahawks make their 4th straight appearance at #3. The Hawks hope the additions of Anthony Fasano and Bobby Engram will get them a Week 5 win over Jacksonville.

4. New York Giants (2-2, 433 Points) [--]
Despite losing an upset match to the Lions, the Giants are still the #4 team. Despite the fact that NYG is on a two game losing streak, the Giants have been wildly inconsistent in 2008, going from 157 points to 82 points in two weeks.

5. Miami Dolphins (1-3, 466 Points) [--]
Despite being 1-3, the Dolphins are just one win away from holding the 4th place spot in the league. With LaDanian Tomlinson, Michael Turner and Terrell Owens, its hard for me to see this team doing anything other than winning games for the rest of the year.

6. Detroit Lions (2-2, 408 Points) [+1]
The Lions slowly continue to climb the power rankings, delivering an upset victory over the New York Giants last week. The Lions, who are currently riding a two game win streak, could be a legit playoff contender with Adrian Peterson on board.

7. Houston Texans (2-2, 394 Points) [-1]
If the playoffs began today, Houston would be in it. The Texans have still been below league average this year, and will look to try and solidify a playoff spot with a win over the Detroit Lions this week.

8. Washington Redskins (1-3, 406 Points) [+1]
The Redskins put out an amazing 141 points Week 4, 40 more points than they had in any other week. Is this a sign of better things to come in Washington? The Skins will be without high scorer Anquan Boldin next week, as he will rest with a head injury.

9. Buffalo Bills (2-2, 364 Points) [-1]
The Bills, who have only scored at least 101 points once this season, finally lost to the Arizona Cardinals. The Bills are very lucky to be 2-2 at this point, as the Dolphins have scored 102 more points than the Bills but are only 1-3. The Bills are lead by Jason Campbell, and a very nice surprise RB in Steve Slaton.

10. Cleveland Browns (0-4, 309 Points) [--]
This is the 4th week in a row that the Browns have held the 10th spot in the Power Rankings. Its probably time for them to tank the season, trade their guys away for young talent and picks, and put the #1 overall pick next year to good use.
